As the United States of America commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the USCCB joins the celebration by lifting up the contributions of Catholics and the impact of our faith on the history of this country. In a historic moment, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11, 2-26, and invite all parishes to join in the consecration.
Join the U.S. Church from June 3 -11 in praying the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which will conclude with the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Each day reflects on the wisdom of saints and pontiffs on the Sacred Heart and offers opportunities for prayer and action, framed by Pope Francis’ encyclical Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us) and Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic exhortation Dilexi Te (I Have Loved You).
You can find a copy of the novena here.
We will also be sharing the novena daily on our Facebook page, here.
Also, marking the upcoming 250th anniversary of this nation, Catholic Current created a new series of special episodes on the contributions of Catholics to the United States. You can find these episodes at usccb.org/weholdthesetruths .
