Our Youth Group mini-mission at the Marywood Dominican Center last Saturday was truly a blessed day!
First, we cut and woodchipped invasive Japanese Honeysuckle shrubs out of the St. Francis Sculpture Garden. Artist Mic Carlson created bronze statues of the life of St. Francis along a wooden trail. Mic was there and deeply grateful for the transformation our work has made.
After a picnic lunch, we spent time with the Dominican Sisters int he nursing home. First, we sang familiar gospel songs. Then, in small groups, the Sisters talked about being fulfilled during their long lives of ministry. Afterwards, our youth helped the Sisters play a game, everyone won a prize!
At the end, the quite voices of the elderly Sisters and our happy Youth Group were lifted up together when we sang The Prayer of St. Francis.

Thank you Anna-Belle Leichty, Sophia McKnight, Lyam Jibson, Kate, Claire, Collin, and Jamie Kober, Mike and Kristine Stinson, Wes Wiersma, Doug Metivier, Judy Vanderhyde, and Sue Blackall for making it happen.
St. Francis was with us on that day!
