The Success of Our Community Garden

A table full of vegetables from the Community Garden

A note from Alexis Koren about the success of our Community Garden:

While we wait through the winter for another growing season, here is a summary of how our Community Garden fared this year:

After Masses this Summer and into the Fall, many of us at Holy Family enjoyed the fruits of the Community Garden. Anything that was leftover was donated to local food pantries, which was a grand total of 52.5 pounds of produce that was donated!

For those of you who have a difficult time visualizing how much that is, I took the liberty of googling some things of similar weights that you may be familiar with.

52.5 pounds is the same weight of a twin size mattress, or the average American seven year old boy, of 4,200 US quarters, or 20 adult male guinea pigs.

This is an extraordinary success, and one that would not have been possible without the support of so many of you. So, again, thank you to everyone who donated their money, time, and/or talent to this project to make it so productive, and another huge thank you to Majestic Landscaping for their donation of such fruitful soil.
