Our parish faith formation program plan follows the Office of Catholic Schools “Living our Mission in Today’s Reality” <\/a>plan and the MI Safe Start Plan<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since our region remains in phase 4, we are allowed to host in-person classes.\u00a0In-person classes may not exceed 10 people per classroom.<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Screening:<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Parents must monitor their children. If the child exhibits any signs of COVID-19 or has a fever greater than 100.4, they may not bring their child to class. Parents will be required to sign a “Good Health” form each week stating that their child does not show signs of COVID-19. A packet of forms will be provided and we\u00a0ask that you present a form each week as you drop your student off.<\/span><\/p>\n

Any volunteer must fill out a form answering health screening questions each time they volunteer. Volunteers should self-monitor and if they are feeling sick should not come.<\/span><\/p>\n

Social Distancing:<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

Class size is limited to 10 people per room.<\/span><\/p>\n

Desks or seats for students must be 6 feet apart and facing the same direction in the classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students will be kept in the same classroom and not intermix with students in other classrooms. If students will be brought into church for part of their lesson, they will be brought to different parts of the sanctuary and keep kneelers down to indicate usage so sanitizing can be done when they leave.<\/span><\/p>\n

Catechists will remain 6 feet apart from students.<\/span><\/p>\n

No parents or outside adults are allowed in the classroom with students<\/span><\/p>\n

Students are not allowed to share, touch, or borrow other students\u2019 supplies. Students must bring their own supplies and bring them back and forth each week, including any books or material for class.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students must wear a mask and stay socially distanced while going to and form the bathroom and will be reminded to wash their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

A drop-off and pick-up system will be in place using the Bell Tower, Carpenter Hall and kitchen entrances. The students will keep 6 feet apart as they are checked in, and \u201cGood Health\u201d forms presented upon entering the building nearest their classroom.\u00a0 Catechists will dismiss students from lines at those same entrances. Parents are not to come into the building to drop off or pick students up.<\/em> The Bell Tower is for grades 1 & 2, Carpenter Hall for grades 3, 4, & 5, and the kitchen entrance is for grade 6.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

PPE use:<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

All catechists and adult volunteers must always wear a mask.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students in grades 6 and up must always wear a mask.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students in 1st<\/sup> \u2013 5th<\/sup> grade are encouraged<\/i> to wear a mask during class. They are required<\/i> to wear a mask while in common areas such as the hallway, lines, or anywhere 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained.<\/span><\/p>\n

Masks for all ages are encouraged, but not required in outdoor settings providing that proper social distance can be maintained at all times.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hygiene:<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

Hand sanitizer will be in each classroom for catechist and student use.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hand washing after bathroom use is required \u2013 using soap and washing for at least 20 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sanitation\/Cleaning:<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

Frequently touched surfaces including light switches, doors, bathrooms, etc. will undergo cleaning before and after any religious education classes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students will be asked to wipe down their desk\/table and chair at the end of class.<\/span><\/p>\n

Symptoms During Class:<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

If a student begins exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms during class, they will be removed from the classroom to and sent to a designated volunteer who will call their parent(s) and may not return to in-person classes until they are cleared be a medical doctor or have gone 14 days without symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n
