Welcome Fr. Fabian Lopez

Fr. FabianWe welcome Father Fabian Lopez to Holy Family Parish for the month of August!

Father Fabian is a member of the Yarumal Missionaries of Columbia, South America.

He was born in Columbia, not too far from Cartagena, the seaport made famous for Saint Peter Claver who was the Saint who met the slave ships coming into port at Cartagena from Africa in the 1600’s  The holds of the ships were filled with human cargo, captured Africans that were to be sold into slavery.  Saint Martin worked among them, instructing, baptizing and caring for their needs.

Father Fabian is working with Sister Trini Duque of our Diocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry (which we help to fund by our suppopFr fabianTrinirt of CSA)

Each day Sister Trini comes here to Holy Family and picks Father Fabian up to go to the migrant camps where he meets the people and prays with them, celebrates Mass sometimes and leads the rosary.  He also conducts classes on the Sacraments at Saint Joseph in Wright and here at Holy Family.  He also visits homes to meet the people and to encourage them in their faith.  On Sundays he goes to Ionia to celebrate Mass in Spanish and he has a Saturday Mass in Spanish in Wright.
